Sea Eagles host Stornoway in last game of 22/23

Highland 3XV v Stornoway, 29th Apr, KO 1:00pm

The Sea Eagles will bring the curtain down on a long, and broken up, season at Canal Park on Saturday when they welcome Stornoway RFC.

In this stop start season the Sea Eagles had completed the first round of games on the 3rd of December,  and didn’t play again until 25th March.  It’s great to see them get to the end of this campaign with a nearly complete playing record. Highland had 3 pts deducted as we didn’t have enough players to fulfil our first match in the 2nd half of the season back on 4th  March.

I think everyone would recognise it would be difficult to keep players fully involved when you don’t have rugby for 3 months, but they stuck at it.

As I’m sure your understand – sometimes the 3rd XV’s main problem was not knowing who they still had left after senior training on Thursday night when the 1st & 2nd XV squads had to be filled first.

Great credit goes to all the players and coaches involved with the 3rd XV  who have got the job done and completed a season where the club have fielded 3 senior mens team’s. This at a time when some clubs are struggling for enough players for a 1st XV never mind a 2nd or 3rd XV.

Highland currently lie 4th (of 6) in the Caledonia North Region League Divison 3 Play Off (Top) mini league, with 8pts having played 4 games. Saturdays game will be their 5th and final game since the League split into two mini leagues after the first round of matches were completed.

Stornoway are one place above Highland with 9 pts from 3 games.

Stornoway beat the Sea Eagles home and away in the first part of the season, so we’re familiar with them  and know what to expect.

Our lads have a chance to see what they can do this time out, and lay down a marker for next season.

Come along and give the guys your support it would be greatly appreciated, just remember the kick off time is 1pm to accommodate Stornoway’s travel arrangements.

See Highland host Horsham Barbarians RUFC

If you fancy hanging around the club a little bit longer on Saturday there is some more rugby on offer.

Horsham RUFC, 3rd XV, the Barbarians, are on tour and are coming to the club on Saturday when they will play a Highland 2nd / 3rd XV select team after the Sea Eagles have played Stornoway. Kick Off is 3pm.

Horsham say their 3rd XV known as the Baa Baas are a home for the spirit of rugby in the club. They played in Sussex 3 West for the 21/22 season, the Baa Baas play for the love of the game and find enjoyment whatever the result. Old and new foes…
