Highland pick up away game (again) in Round 1
THE draw for this season’s Men’s Scottish Cup, Men’s National League Cup, Men’s National Shield and Men’s Bowl competitions has been made, with the first round of matches to be played on 9th March.
This years senior men’s Scottish Cup draw, which features teams from the top two leagues (Premiership and National Division 1), has received a blow as 6 teams withdraw from the competition.
This means the senior mens competition will only feature 14 out of the top 20 teams as Borders sides Jed-Forest, Kelso, Selkirk, Gala, and Melrose have all withdrawn from the competition to focus on their Border League fixtures, together with Glasgow High Kelvinside who have also oped out. The good news is that current holders Hawick have committed to trying retain the cup.
The finals of the Scottish Cup, the National Shield and the Bowl will be part of Silver Saturday at Murrayfield on 27th April, while details for the final of the revived National League Cup will be confirmed at a later date.
