Highland Raptors, next and last game of season 22/23 is away to Shetland RFC 15th April

Raptors longest away-day for last game of 22/23

Raptors away to Shetland in last game 15th Apr

The Raptors look likely to get their last game played – involving a lengthy trek to the Shetland Isles – this weekend, Saturday 15th April. If all things go to plan the game will kick off at 12 Noon at North Lochside Lerwick to accommodate Highland’s travel requirements.

Moray secured the Caley North Div 2 title back on 25th March with their win over RAF Lossiemouth, giving them an unbeatable points lead with a game to spare. Their only loss this year, so far, was on opening day at Canal Park when the Raptors ran out 29-10 winners. So it was 1-1 in the head to head between the top two teams. Since the opening day loss Moray went on a 14 game winning streak. It’s that consistency that wins league titles. Congratulations to Moray on a great season.

As for the Raptors, they were confirmed in 2nd place after last weeks emphatic home win.

The Raptors will travel in good form. They put 83 unanswered points past Ross Sutherland in a ruthless display in glorious sunshine at Canal Park last week. A little bit of payback for the 20-19 loss the Raptors suffered up in Invergordon earlier in the season.

When Highland hosted Shetland at Canal Park, Highland ran out 80-12 winners in a similar free flowing style to last weeks effort. So form would suggest that a bonus point win is on the cards.

Finally as the title and 2nd place are already tied up there is no pressure involved for the Raptors in this weekend fixture. It’ll be go out have some fun and put a long season to bed – but it would be great to do it with another win.
