Ex Highland lad plays at Twickenham with BaBaas 7’s

Paddy Kelly wears Highland colours on the Cabbage Patch.

Congrats and well done to Highland old boy, Patrick Kelly who made an appearance for the Barbarian’s 7’s at Twickenham on Friday night, 25th Aug, along with a Highland sock!!

Paddy was playing for the Barbarians 7’s against Monaco 7’s in the curtain raiser for the All Blacks v South Africa game in front of about 82000 people.

He came up through the mini section and played with Highland till he reached the U15’s.

Then he won a scholarship to Merchison Castle, then onto Glasgow University, going on to play senior rugby at Pays d’Aix Rugby Club (now Provence Rugby), Glasgow Hawks, & Ayr.

Paddy got picked up by Glasgow Warriors, spent a while on loan with London Scottish , before returning to play for the Warriors in the Pro 12.

He was also capped for Scotland U20’s, Scotland 7’s playing in the World Sevens Series, and was also in the GB7’s squad.

For those of you who don’t know players invited to play for the Barbarians are allowed to wear their chosen club socks – so it’s fantastic that Paddy remembered us in this way.

Once a Highland Man always a Highland Man!
