This weekend, 28th January, sees the Raptors make trip along the A96 to play Gordonians RFC 2nd XV at Countesswells, Aberdeen.
This will undoubtedly be a tough game. Some thought that Highland Raptors were lucky to come away with a 33-22 win at canal Park back in October.
The result looks relatively comfortable. However, the turning point in this game was when uncontested scrums were introduced after about 60mins due to an injury in the Gordonians front row.
Up until this point the Highland team had struggled to get good ball way from their own scrum which was under a lot of pressure. the introduction of uncontested scrums gave the Raptors a platform to run their plays that they didn’t have previously.
Gordoinans 2nd XV lost last time out, 21 Jan 2023, going down 36-15 to RAF Lossiemouth.
Highlands 2nd XV game was lost to the weather, but the time before that they ran out 32-8 winners away to Mackie.
