Nat Shield: Highland Women 79-22 Aberdeenshire Quines

Women's team earn emphatic win at home.

FULL TIME in today’s Women’s National Shield game at Canal Park was

Highland RFC 79 – 22 Aberdeenshire Quines

The strong winds added an extra element of challenge to what was a competitive game.

Playing into the wind, the ladies fought hard for a narrow lead with the first half ending a tight 15 – 12 to Highland.

With all to play for in the 2nd half, and the wind at their back, Highland pulled away to secure a convincing win.

A fantastic way to end a brilliant Shield run- our Women finishing 2nd in their pool on points difference. The experience gained will prove invaluable going forward next season as they make the step up to Caledonia North Division 1.

The ladies should be proud of their progress and achievements over this successful season.

Huge thank you to Aberdeenshire Quines Rugby from for making the trip and giving us an exciting and challenging game in difficult conditions.

Highland voted Alaina MacLennan their player of the match for doing such a superb job stepping into 2nd row. Aberdeenshire voted for both Holly Duncan and Louise Mason, both played exceptionally well today.

You can find some photos of game on Facebook by clicking here for Phil Downie’s shots and here for my own.

This was our women’s team’s last competitive game of season 2023/24 which saw them win Caledonia North League Div 2, and earn a place in Caledonia North League Division 1.

However the games are not over yet as I understand the team have a friendly away to West Of Scotland next weekend.
