Highland Women 1st XV host Stornoway in Bowl Game

Highland Women looking to progress in Bowl

This weekend, 25th March, sees Highland RFC Women host Stornoway RFC ladies in their last National Bowl group fixture.

Highland will be looking to secure their third win on the bounce.

A victory would leave them top of their group, and they would progress into  knockout stage of the competition, but nothing will be taken for granted at this stage. The work still has to be done on the pitch.

The team have enjoyed two solid wins in their previous fixtures. They ran out 29-5 winners away to Bannockburn Valkyries back in February. Then followed that up with a comprehensive 67-24 victory over Perthshire RFC ladies at Canal Park at the start of the month.

You can really see the improvement in the team as they put into practice what they work so hard at in training. You can also see the benefit of the experience gained in the previous games, and the partnerships developing on the park.

Their running rugby is a credit their coaches and Highland Rugby Club.

Please note the ladies fixtures are usually played on Sundays but this game is being played on Saturday, 25th March with a 1pm KO to fit in with Stornoways travel requirements.

There is no other senior rugby at canal Park this weekend, so if you have some time to spare on Saturday the women would really appreciate it if you could come along and give them your support.

Coach Brian Crush has selected the following team for Saturdays game:

15. Holly Duncan, 14. Hannah Sinclair, 13. Jodie Reid, 12. Lauren Parkes (VC), 11. Emily Sutherland, 10. Caitlin Hollands, 9. Amy Brown (C)
