1st XV season ends with Cup loss at Watsonians

After the withdrawal of  Jed Forest, Kelso, Selkirk, Gala, Melrose, and Peebles there were meant to be 6 ties played on Saturday 9th March, with Dundee and Heriot Blues having secured 1st Round byes.

Unfortunately, Glasgow Accies and Biggar recently withdrew from their ties against Hawick and Marr respectively after suffering a spate of injuries in their National 1 league run ins.

So Highland travelled south to play Watsonians in one of only 4 Scottish Cup first round ties to be played on Saturday. An International weekend with all that can mean to the playing resources of all the clubs involved.

The game was notable for being Stephen “Scuba” Murray’s 300th 1st XV appearance, as well as being the debut 1st XV match for both Josh Talbot-Heigh and Neori Vuetiyaroi.

I stayed up north to watch the Scotland game so no personal insight from me, but you can read a match report on The Offside Line by clicking here.
