1st XV end 2022 with away trip to Dundee.

Highland hit the road again!

The 1st XV set off for Dundee on Saturday 17th December to renew our rivalry with Dundee Rugby at Mayfield. Kick off is scheduled for 2pm.

Only 2 games survived the weather on the 10th, ourselves at Canal Park and Stirling County’s home fixture against Watsonian’s also went ahead, this means that every team in the league have now played 12 games.

Saturday past saw Highlands fine 58-14 win over Aberdeen Grammar move the team back up to 5th Place in National League Division 1  with 35 points, one behind fourth placed Gala.

Dundee currently lie in 6th position, with 25 points.

This promises to be another tough and potentially tight encounter. Our battles with Dundee have been very competitive over the last few seasons, with the games usually being won by a single score.

Last season Highland won our home tie 19-15, and won the away game 16-24, this season Highland won our home tie against Dundee Rugby a bit more comfortably  by 35-22 back in September.

Dundee are a tough nut to crack having tested Highland to the limit on several occasions, and this is especially true on their home patch at Mayfield.

Having said that Highland must look at this as a potential away win. That is certainly the view of Coach Davie Carson when he challenged his team to deliver two wins, preferably bonus point wins, in the last two fixture of 2022.

Part one was achieved in the resounding win over Grammar, and the team will look to carry the confidence of that win into this weeks tie in Dundee.
