This weekend’s (23rd Sept) Senior & U18 Boys Fixtures

This weekend see’s the Mens and Womens 1st XV’s as well as the Boy’s U18 playing at home, with the 2nd & 3rd XV’s taking to the road.

First up on Saturday 23rd Sept, with a 12 noon KO, will be our Highland Women’s team who will host Caithness Krackens at Canal Park. This is a battle of the for top spot in Caledonia North League Division 2 (Women). Both teams have recorded big wins over Moray Women. The Krackens won 78-17 up north this past weekend.  Highland Women had recorded a 18-55 win through in Elgin against the same opposition the weekend before.

Both the Krackens and the Highland team had been awarded 28-0 victories for their opening fixtures of the season when their opposition couldn’t field teams for their respective away fixtures.

This means that both teams are currently on 10 points, but the Krackens lead the way in the league on points differential. It’s sure to be an entertaining game. Just a reminder that KO is at noon.

Next up will be the U18 boys who are welcoming Gala Wanderers in their next National Youth Cup tie. They will be looking to make an impression against their borders opposition. Kick off is scheduled for 2pm.

The 1st XV return to Canal Park looking to get back to winning ways against GHK RFC after last weekends loss away at GHA. The KO is at 3pm.

Ayr RFC are now the only undefeated team in National League Division 1, and they also have a full compliment of try bonus points to lead the way on 15 points. GHA and Melrose pushed Highland down into 4th spot in the league with their wins last weekend, Melrose had a great 33-0 away win at Biggar.

Highland, Watsonians, & GHK are all on 10 points with Highland leading the group on points differential from Watsonians.

National League Division 1 already seems like a league where any team can beat their opposition on game day.  Highland will be wary of a GHK team who narrowly won (31-26) over Gala at the weekend given that Gala had beaten GHA the weekend before. Then again it’s too early to read anything into the results.

Highland will be keen to get back to winning ways, especially in front of a home crowd, once again a reminder that this game kicks off at 3pm.

The Raptors (Mens 2xv) are scheduled to be away to Ellon on Saturday, in a re-arranged tie from the opening day of the season. They will be looking to back up their come from behind 27-22 victory over RAF Lossiemouth last weekend.

The Raptors are also 4th in their league with 12 points, however, they have played one game less (3) than the teams above them. Ellon are in 5th place with 5 points but they have only played 2 games so far this season. The Raptors will be looking to make up ground on the teams above them.

The Sea Eagles (Mens 3XV) continue their difficult start to the season with their 3rd consecutive away trip – this time heading to the Western Isles to take on Stornoway RFC at Bayhead, Stornoway.  The Highland lads have one win and one loss so far. They head to Stornoway to face a team who have only played once so far this season. suffering a loss to league leaders RAF Kinloss, back on 2nd Sept. Kick off is at 3pm.
